What is Chinese New Year? For non-Chinese people, they will feel that it is more like a holiday event. Chinese New Year is actually something celebrated by all Chinese during Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year does not mean holiday to me only but also a reunion event. During Chinese New Year, relatives will meet up and have dinner together. Chinese New Year is a yearly occasion like Hari Raya and Deepavali. Therefore during Chinese New Year, it is like a birthday to me as I get to do what I want most of the times. Chinese New Year has also pros and cons to me. The pros are, I get to have more money as I will be going to relatives house and collect ‘Hong Bao’ which is a red packet packed with money inside. I will also get to eat at places where I don’t get to eat often at with my relatives and families. I will also meet up with cousins and other relatives which I do not know too well. During Chinese New Year, we will all be happy celebrating as a family. The cons are, we will be missing lessons thus, and we will need to be more focused when we get back to school. We might also see relatives which we hate a lot.
In my opinion, Chinese New Year can be a fun event depending on how u spent the days. During Chinese New Year, I will be mostly going to watch movies or going out. It is quite fun during Chinese New Year but good things always end fast. Chinese New Year lasted about a month but we always celebrated during the first four to five days only. This is what Chinese New Year meant to me but for others, it might be different. I will stop for now.
